Temporary Disruption in Trash Collection Services

The City of Rosemead has been notified by its franchise hauler, Republic Services, of a temporary disruption in trash collection since Monday, July 14, due to a labor dispute. This disruption is due to a nationwide strike in support of union workers in Boston. While the underlying dispute is unrelated to the City of Rosemead, local Republic Services employees have joined in solidarity.

Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, July 17, one residential driver will service as much of the Monday route as possible. The map below outlines the proposed area for collection.

Additionally, Republic Services will be responding to reports of overflowing commercial bins as notifications are received. Commercial businesses can report overflowing bins by calling 800-299-4898 or emailing [email protected].

Republic Services has issued the following message to Rosemead residents and businesses:

“We want to inform you that due to a labor stoppage beyond our control, there will be delays in trash collection services in your area. We are actively working to resolve this situation and resume normal service as quickly as possible.”

Once regular operations resume, Republic Services has committed to deploying additional resources to adequately address the service disruptions throughout the City.

As an alternative, residents and businesses with proof of residency (an ID with a Rosemead address or Republic Services invoice) can drop off bagged waste at no cost at the following facility:

Republic Services East LA Transfer Station
1512 N Bonnie Beach Pl
Los Angeles, CA 90063

Hours: 6 AM to 2:30 PM
Monday through Friday

The City of Rosemead appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as we work through this temporary service disruption. The City will continue to provide updates via our website and social media platforms as new information becomes available.
