Council Member Ly serves on the Rosemead City Council, elected in March 2009 and Re-elected in March 2013. In the 2011-2012 fiscal year, his council colleagues elected Ly to serve a one-year term as Mayor of Rosemead, becoming the youngest Mayor in his city's history at the age of 26. He represents the city on several regional organizations, including LA Metro's San Gabriel Valley Service Sector, the San Gabriel Valley Council and is the Past President of the Los Angeles Division of the League of California Cities.
Steven Ly also serves as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserves in the Engineer regiment having commissioned from the Army's Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia in 2014.
Steven has worked in government affairs and the non-profit sector since college, helping promote business development in the San Gabriel Valley community. He has over 10 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, marketing and branding, and organizational management.
Steven Ly is a graduate of UCLA with a B.A. in Political Science and Public Policy. He was the first in his family to graduate from college. Steven is also a product of Rosemead's education system, having gone to Willard Elementary, Temple Intermediate and Rosemead High School.
