Community Services

The City has a long history of working with local community organizations to provide programs and services to the residents of Rosemead. While the City does not provide direct assistance in all areas, our Housing staff can provide advice and guide you towards help.

The following is a summary of a few services currently available:

FAMILY PROMISE
 
Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley is a nonprofit (501c3) organization. They provide homeless families in the region with shelter and food, while helping them find work, housing and regain and sustain their independence. Family Promise is made up of local congregations that take turns, a week at a time, housing and feeding homeless families. Their network consists of over 10 religious organizations. THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA HOUSING RIGHTS CENTER
 The Housing Rights Center provides Rosemead residents with FREE counseling services related to fair housing and landlord/tenant issues. For more information, please call (800) 477-5977 or visit the Los Angeles Housing Rights Center.

Food Distribution Programs
The City of Rosemead currently sponsors three food distribution programs. One is specific to senior (elderly) residents and the other two are for Rosemead residents affected by COVID-19.

    • City of Rosemead Senior Nutrition Program

Lunch is available for those 60 years and older, Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Garvey Community Center, 9108 Garvey Ave, Rosemead, CA 91770. Rosemead resident pay $1.25 per meal; non-residents pay $3.25 per meal.

    • Asian Youth Center (AYC) Emergency Food Program
      • AYC's Food Distribution is by appointment only; to schedule an appointment, please call (626) 537-0954
      • Appointments are made between Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
      • Food pick-ups are at:

    • Rosemead Churches Food Distribution Program
      • Evergreen Baptist Church of Los Angeles, Mission Community United Methodist Church, and Open Bible Church are co-hosting regular drive-through food distribution events.
