Looking for something fun to do after school? The City offers programs that encourage youth to exercise and stay fit through sports programs for every age and level to special events that appeal to a variety of interests. All participants must have a Release of Liability form signed by parent/guardian prior to participating.

Tiny Tots Sports (Ages 4-6)

These seasonal sports are taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m at Garvey Park, 7933 Emerson Place. The fundamentals of each sport will be taught. The season begins:

Football     1st week in September Garvey Park
Basketball     1st week in January        Garvey Park Gym
Soccer 1st week in April     Garvey Park
T-Ball 1st week in July Garvey Park

Pee Wee Football (1st-3rd grades)

We teach the fundamentals of Football. Recruitment and try-outs begin in September. Lessons will be conducted on a weekly basis. Free of charge! Times may vary, see recreation staff for exact scheduling.

Flag Football (4th-6th grades)

An inter-City league will be conducted at all afterschool sites. Games will be played at the afterschool sites and parks. Recruitment and try-outs begin in September. Activity is free of charge unless uniforms are purchased. See recreation staff for exact practice and game times.

Volleyball (4th-6th grades)

An inter-City league will be conducted at all afterschool sites. Games will be played at Garvey, Temple and/or Garvey Park Gym's. Recruitment and try-outs begin in September. Activity is free of charge unless uniforms are purchased. See recreation staff for exact practice and game times.

Basketball (4th-6th grades)

An inter-City league will be conducted at all afterschool sites. Games will be played at Garvey, Temple and/or Garvey Park Gym's. Recruitment and try-outs begin in December. Activity is free of charge unless uniforms are purchased. See recreation staff for exact practice and game times.

Youth Soccer (4th-6th grades)

An inter-City league will be conducted at all afterschool sites. Games will be played at various parks and school. Recruitment and try-outs begin in March. Activity is free of charge unless uniforms are purchased. See the afterschool recreation leader for exact practice and game times.

Youth Cheerleading (4th-6th grades)

The City of Rosemead Cheerleading Program is recreational. The emphasis will be on learning through participation and team work. The program concludes with a special performance in December at Rosemead High School. All Cheerleaders will be given an opportunity to perform a routine. Performance will be judged!

Mascot Cheerleading (1st-3rd grades)

The emphasis will be on learning through participation and teamwork. The program concludes with a special performance in December at Rosemead High School. All participants will be given an opportunity to perform newly acquired skills. The mascot performance is exhibition only and will not be judged!

Cheerleading Performance

A special Cheerleading Competition will take place at Rosemead High School , 9063 East Mission Drive. Squads representing each park and playground will have an opportunity to perform a practiced routine. All cheerleaders will receive an award for their participation. This will be a competition for grades 4th-6th and an exhibition for the mascots grades 1st-3rd.

Spring Social (4th-6th grades)

This special event is for participants in the 4th – 6th gades at the Rosemead Center in mid-March. There will be food, games, a snack bar, and lots of friends. Cost is $5 per child. Wear a silly hat and pay only $3.

Fun Zone

Join us at Rosemead Park Monday thru Friday, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., for loads of fun activities which include crafts, games, tournaments, field trips, cooking, and just plain old-fashioned fun. Calendars will be sent to all schools in Rosemead.
