Lieutenant Tim Murakami, who serves as the City’s main point of contact with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, has been designated as Rosemead’s Chief of Police. In this role, Lieutenant Murakami will direct the operations of the City’s Public Safety Department, which includes law enforcement officers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department supplemented by civilian City support personnel.
Prior to the appointment of Lt. Murakami, the City of Rosemead’s Public Safety Department was led by a civilian Public Safety Director. That position was recently vacated due to a retirement. The City is confident that this reorganization will create a stronger partnership between the community and law enforcement to combat crime.
“Our intent is to strengthen Rosemead’s public safety services and we are looking to be more effective in the way we deliver these services. We are confident that Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies and City of Rosemead employees will operate with a high degree of unity and commitment in protecting and serving our community,” said City Manager Jeff Allred.
