Lieutenant Robert Hahnlein

Lieutenant Robert (Rob) Hahnlein, has been designated as Rosemead's Chief of Police and serves as the City's main point of contact with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. In this role, Lieutenant Hahnlein will be part of the City's Public Safety Department, where he will direct operations of law enforcement officers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and work closely with civilian City support personnel.

The appointment of Lieutenant Hahnlein as Rosemead's new Chief of Police continues the Rosemead Model of unity of command, which has led to a stronger partnership between the community and law enforcement, and has proved an effective means to combat criminal activity.

About Lieutenant Robert Hahnlein

Lieutenant Hahnlein was born in Glendale California. His parents migrated to the United States from Germany. He grew up in the Glendale area and graduated from Crescenta Valley High School. He received an Associate of Science Degree from Glendale College in Aeronautics. He is continuing his education through the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department University program. Prior to joining the Sheriff's Department, he worked for Lockheed Martin where he helped build various types of aircrafts.

Lieutenant Hahnlein has been with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for over 27 years. He has worked a variety of assignments, including 8 years as a sergeant, 3 years as a Robbery/Assault Detective, 3 years as a Gang Detective, and 4 years as a Field-Training Officer and Patrol Deputy. He also worked for the Community Oriented Policing Team in the City of Altadena. Lieutenant Hahnlein has received numerous accolades and awards throughout his exemplary service on the Department.

In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, staying in shape, and numerous outdoor activities.
